Residency programme at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music – applications for 2022 now welcome
The reorganised residency programme of the Studio for Electroacoustic Music of the Akademie der Künste supports new initiatives and inspirational ideas in the field of time-based, performative, digital arts at the interface of sound, music and technology.
The scholarship is awarded to eight to ten artists for one to two weeks and is open to all artists who see sound as a key element of their artistic work. Possible projects for individual or group projects include the creation of new instrumental and live electronic works, works on acousmatics, computer music and radio art, as well as other forms of electroacoustic music and sound art. These can also be projects of a curatorial, publishing and pedagogical nature in the field of sound-based art practice as well as autonomous research projects in the field of acoustics, computer and music sciences, software development, spatialisation or network technologies.
Each year there are two periods in which to apply for a residency of up to two weeks. The scholarship holders are selected by the management and the advisory board of the Studio for Electroacoustic Music. For the period 1 April – 30 June 2022, the application deadline is 31 January 2022. For the period 1 September – 30 November 2022, the application deadline is 30 June 2022.
The Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Akademie der Künste is a place of work for artists who incorporate the latest artistic trends in electroacoustic music into their works. In an exclusive high-end studio environment at the Akademie's Hanseatenweg location, they can bring their artistic visions to fruition at the interface of art and technology. In the studio, projects are generated for Akademie events as well as programmes comprising electroacoustic music and art. The activities range from live recordings and studio recordings to performance design, and sound and video installations.
