Michelangelo Pistoletto

Artist Talk

Michelangelo Pistoletto was in the 1960s a catalyst for the Arte povera. In addition to the development of his own work, the "Progetto Arte", the reflection on the social role of art, has always been fundamental for the artist. The artist talk with Nike Bätzner is dedicated to the essential aspects of his work since the 1960s What sort of positioning does he consider relevant today? Where does the thinking about a fruitful relationship between the arts and the sciences lead us today? What would be his personal vision?

Art historian and curator Nike Bätzner, Arte povera researcher (published as: Arte Povera, Between Memory and Event, Nuremberg 2000), has been Professor of Art History at Burg Giebichenstein, Kunsthochschule Halle since 2008. She has published extensively on various aspects of contemporary art, among others: Assoziationsraum Wunderkammer. Zeitgenössische Künste zur Kunst- und Naturalienkammer der Franckeschen Stiftungen, Halle 2015; Die Aktualität des Barock (Hg.), Zürich/Berlin 2014; Blickmaschinen. Oder wie Bilder entstehen (Hg. mit Werner Nekes und Eva Schmidt, Kat. Siegen, Budapest, Sevilla), Köln 2008; Faites vos jeux! Kunst und Spiel seit Dada (Hg., Kat.
