In the two-part TV documentary Zeugen – Aussagen zum Mord an einem Volk (1981) by Karl Fruchtmann, the first comprehensive TV documentary about the Shoah, Holocaust survivors recount their memories and traumas. This rarely screened film, which is also being released on DVD for the first time, is to be shown on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Doron Kiesel, Ruth Preusse, Andres Veiel and Lea Wohl von Haselberg talk about the film and its significance in regard to cultural memory.
