Nevermore and the Art of Translation
Cécile Wajsbrot’s new novel Nevermore is a book about translation – both on a narrative level and on questions of translation itself. A French translator flees from Paris to Dresden after the death of an author friend to translate Virginia Woolf’s novel To the Lighthouse. Cécile Wajsbrot uses a chapter of Woolf to demonstrate the translation work in an impressive and reflective way. Nevermore was again translated into German by the author Anne Weber.
