Works of art in the crosshairs of the GDR authorities
Provenance research is increasingly focussing on the state's handling of cultural assets in the GDA. This also includes accessing private collections to gain possession of identity-forming art and cultural objects or selling them to bring in foreign currency. Following an introduction and presentation on the handling of the Otto Nagel painting collection shown in the "Provenance Research" exhibition, aspects of this subject area will be discussed from different perspectives in a round table discussion.
