Jürgen Flimm. With heart and mouth and action and life
Jürgen Flimm (1941–2023) set artistic standards as a theatre director and as an opera director worldwide, formed ensembles as an artistic director, welded stars together to form collectives as a festival director. He has made unforgettable stage events possible, and ensured the future of his art in numerous public functions. His archive at the Akademie bears witness to this, too. With great love for theatre and opera, for those who work for it and in it, for dramas, texts and music, and in a decidedly subjective manner, the memoirs he left behind tell of how he became what he was and how he succeeded in what he did – doubting the conventional, moved by the socially challenging and by great trust in art.
