European Alliance of Academies
The Price of Freedom. Voices of the Hungarian Art Scene

Performance, Music, Film, Reading, Talk

Hungary holds the EU Council Presidency until December 2024. Akademie members and partners of the European Alliance of Academies are showing their solidarity with the Hungarian art and culture scene, which has seen artistic freedom in their country increasingly threatened under the influence of the Orbán government since 2010. Together they engage in dialogue with those affected by the cultural policy situation, while artistic contributions show that the Hungarian art scene is characterised by diversity and dynamism despite political restrictions, a lack of resources and difficult working conditions.
